Wow, it’s been awhile since I’ve written! Lots to update. Here’s some highlights..

1) Recording

Yes, my band actually recorded at my cottage a few weeks ago! We went on Friday, Nov 5–7. The real recording was on Saturday, focusing on laying down bed tracks for 3 songs. Things went quite well, and we were able to get all 3 songs completed, EXCEPT for vocals on one of the songs. Not bad, given we only had 1 full day to record.

So next steps for this is to finish mixing the 2 of the songs, and finish vocals on the last. To be honest, I don’t know about when we can get that last song completed, so I hope that we can figure something out. Knowing us, it probably won’t be for a few more months! Crap. Well, we’ll see, may be we can get better at planning and set a firm new time to record them. That’s what I did for the cottage weekend, and it seemed to work.. Let’s hope the same will work for this round!

Look out for an EP to be done pretty soon, as well as photos from our gig as well as the cottage recording session. I'll probably post some of them on the band website soon too.

2) Cleansing

Well, as usual I’ve been quite busy at work. We had a major crisis last week, resulting in me missing my Naturalpath appointment, postponing until Wednesday of this week. I’ve been on a cleansing diet for a few weeks now, eating brown rice, some fruits and steamed vegetables. It’s been rough, since it’s a non-dairy, non-meat, non-wheat, non-sulphite and preservatives, low salt/sugar diet. Yep, I haven’t had true Chinese food at restaurants for over 2 weeks! Shame!! Horror! They all use MSG, and that’s a clear ‘nono’ for the current cleansing diet.

So is it working? It sure is. I feel much better, but of course I will need to start slowly putting more back into my diet before I whither away! I’ve lost more weight, which is my greatest concern. The thing I miss most are wheat products. MAN, is it tough! I don’t miss meat/dairy nearly as much as stuff like whole grain breads, bagels and of course regular pasta! I’ve been on rice pasta, but it’s basically rice disguised as pasta :).

On a brighter note, I’ve been learning tons about foods and how hard it is to eat natural foods. Due to my sensitive stomach, it’s easy to tell when I’ve fucked up. Even when I’m off this cleansing diet, I’m going to stick to many of the things I’m already doing since it will be great for my long term health. There are so many older people (and this # is on the rise) who have Type B diabetes, a stroke, heart disease and/or high blood pressure, mostly accelerated due to years and years of poor diet and exercise –for the first time ever, the average lifespan is slightly decrease! Speaking of exercise, that’s something I need to get back to. I was much more active in University, and I need to keep that up during the work week. I’m physically on-the-go a lot on the weekends, but clearly that isn’t enough… I’ve started to go for brisk walks during the day, and hopefully I can do other things like working out in the future.

3) SBF Housewarming

I went to my SBF’s housewarming party last weekend, and it was a hit! He lives with one of his old high school friends at an apartment in mid-town Toronto. So far they’ve been there for about 1.5 months, and I think they’re starting to really make it feel like home. I bought them a jade plant for good luck, adding in some more green into their living room. I think they’ll start focusing on the accents to really add in more character and personalization to their space.

They went to different universities, and as such had many different friends. It’s always a tough call when 2 entire groups of friends come together into one room. But everything worked out very well, especially after a few ice breaker games like OUTBURST! :P. Who knew yelling out all things related to “leather goods” would bring everyone together? Okok, I’m leaving out another crucial piece to the social success of the evening—alcohol!

Seeing that I couldn’t drink, I was the only sober one of the night. No problem, I’m used to this, and over the years I’ve been able to take from my surroundings and almost feel a bit “drunk” myself. Course, not tanked, but I swear my brain releases some endorphins on its own b/c I can get quite happy and feel some of my inhibitions go down… seeing that everyone else is toasted, I guess it can be quite an easy transition for me too! :P

SBF and his roomie had a bday party last month, and this party on November – let’s see if they’ll throw another bash during the holiday season!

Take care,

RE
