It appears i'm a bit behind on writing about 2 concerts that I've been too these past few weeks. And I have another one this Saturday! Arugh. I hope to write about them, so i can look back and remember the experience, and also see how my feelings about the band has changed since then.

Anyway, I wanted to write about this incredible photo blog that I came across a few months ago. I can't stop talking about it because of how eye-popping and inspiring it is to someone who loves photos of everyday life. I have a digital camera and love taking tons of photos; since getting it last year i've taken over 5,800 shots. Crazy eh?

There is a site called "Daily Dose of Imagery" which is a project by a guy named Sam Javanrouh who posts 1 photo a day. There are tons of these out there now-a-days, but he's been here for a few years. What differentiates his site from the rest for me are a few things:

First, he takes ordinary scenes/locations from Toronto and makes them extraordinary. He can find the beauty out of garbage cans, sidewalks and cement. I guess you could relate it to the famous 'plastic bag' scene from American Beauty, but with still photography. It's one thing to take breathtaking photos in places in the far east or in Africa, but to do it in my back yard? Every day? THAT's something impressive. He's also given me new persepectives to places in Toronto that i've seen my whole life.

Second, he makes himself accessible to his adoring viewers by telling us some of the tricks and techniques he uses, so we can take a stab (pathetic in my case) at elevating the quality our own photos. He also tries to answer as many questions as possible, and even has posted some "how-to's in photoshop" on a few cool and essential techniques on his forums page. It's inspiring and makes everything feel that much closer and tangible for everyone.

Enough of my babble. Let your eyes do the rest. Check it out, and be sure to look at all the archives. There is even a display of his work being displayed at a gallery in the Distillery District downtown, so check it out if you can!

Take care and happy viewing!
